Personal Finance & Income Taxes

In this semester course, students will learn skills to manage personal finance as they prepare to enter college or the workforce. Financial responsibilities and strategies to manage a checkbook, credit cards, auto insurance, and phone cards will be presented.Using IRS forms, instructions, and the IRS website, students learn how to properly fill out a W-4 form, identify which of the IRS Income Tax Forms are best for them (1040EZ, 1040A, and 1040) and how to complete NJ 1040 form. Filing taxes the traditional way and electronically will be discussed along with the direct deposit vs. a traditional refund by mail.
