Family and Consumer Sciences

The Family and Consumer Science Program encompass two State Approved Career Technical Education Programs; Food Preparation, which is now a part of our Academy of Business & Finance; and Early Childhood Development, now a part of the Academy of Social Sciences & Humanities. The courses have been developed to encourage student interest in the Life Sciences. Each year the courses are evaluated and updated to insure current instructional practice and relevance. Students may take the courses as electives or as a natural pathway through their high school career. Students perform many activities and also volunteer to complete community related projects.

Classes are taught by experienced teachers in each area. These teachers continually update their skills and knowledge. The curriculum is aligned with the New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards 9.1 through 9.4. In addition to valuable career training, students pursue post secondary education to many colleges.
