Academy of Humainities and Social Sciences
Keystone Course Description
INTRODUCTION OF PHILOSOPHY
The keystone course in the Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences is an examination
of the "big questions" geared toward helping students learn to articulate their worldview
and take a stand on the meaning of life. It introduces students to the overarching issues
explored by philosophers and lets them explore some of the more famous thinkers while
critiquing their positions. We'll do writing, reading and discussion of works, but a
lot of the class will be the students directly responding and working on their own positions.
