INTRODUCTION OF SPORTS MEDICINE

This Academy of Sports Medicine and Management keystone course will introduce the student to the fields of allied health care and sports medicine. Career exploration will include athletic training, medicine, physical therapy, emergency medicine, nursing, exercise physiology, nutritionist/dietician, personal fitness training. Topics will include but are not limited to: care, prevention, and rehabilitation of sports related injuries, basic anatomy and physiology, emergency care, strength and conditioning, nutritional aspects, fitness and wellness. Students will have opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge through the use of various text, visual, and hands-on experiences. Guest lecturers and field trips will also be utilized in this course. CR 2.5, YO 10, Acceptance in the Academy of Sports Medicine and Management.

INTRODUCTION OF SPORTS MANAGEMENT

This Academy of Sports Medicine and Management keystone course will introduce the student to the field of sports management. Career exploration will include: sports marketer, fitness director, sports journalist, recreation director, and sports agent. Topics will include but are not limited to: sports marketing, sports information, and business opportunities in the sports industry. Students will have opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge through the use of various text, visual, and hands-on experiences.
