Your Money At Work
Celebrating 10 years of service, the Source, a non-profit 501©3 organization, provided services to the students
and families of the Red Bank Regional High School community during the 2009-2010, school year. These services
have been made possible through grants and donations by local government organizations, businesses and through
collaborations with the United Way, the NJ Department of Children and Families, Division of Prevention and
Community Partnerships, and the Red Bank Regional Board of Education.
Mental health services were provided for more than 516 participants, receiving almost 1,954 hours of
individual, family and crisis intervention services. Group programming included:

Latino Girls - a bilingual closed group that runs for 10 weeks and addresses the adolescent’s
issues specific to the Latino community. It starts in the middle school with 7 and 8th grade and
continues in the high school supporting transition and adaptation issues.

Social Skills- Ongoing and open, the focus of this group is on developing social skills through
interactive activities including problem solving, self-esteem building, cooperation, and communication skills.

Anger Management- students develop insight into what triggers their anger and why. Students then
explore strategies to take control of their anger responses to manage them more appropriately.

Boyz to Men –Curriculum-based program provides year round interactive workshops exploring issues
pertaining to young men. This group begins in the middle school and continues in the high school
identifying students at risk in order to promote early intervention strategies.

Relationship Group - a psycho-educational program designed to explore the dynamics of healthy vs.
unhealthy relationships including dating and domestic violence.

Grief Group- A support group for students dealing with the pain of loss of a loved one. Students in
this group explore the stages of grief and loss while obtaining the necessary tools to help facilitate
the healing process.

COSA Group-Children of Alcoholics and other substance abusers, this group focuses on the emotional
dynamics of having a parent who abuses drugs and/or alcohol.

Summer Slam program- A 4-week enrichment program designed to prepare incoming freshman students with
the academic challenges of high school. Curriculum includes: language arts, math, history with an emphasis
on critical thinking skills, reading comprehension and test taking strategies.
Medical services were provided for more than 70 clients. Dental care was provided for over 35 clients. This included screening and restorative treatment.
Substance Abuse prevention, treatment and referral services were provided for more than 150 clients. Individual counseling, case management, screening and assessment services were provided for more than 100 clients. Family counseling and interventions were provided for more than 40 families. Group counseling services were provided for substance abusers and affected others.
Preventative health care was provided for over 300 clients. These services encompassed health education, pregnancy prevention, life skills training, case management and advocacy.
Learning support assisted more than 250 clients with more than 600 hours of service. These services included our very popular Encourage an “A” program which rewards students who achieve 2 or more “A’s” on their report card with no failures, Peer to Peer tutoring, Junior College Workshop SAT Prep Class and New Jersey College Bus Tour. Summer Slam provided services for 60 incoming freshman.
Cultural and recreational opportunities were provided for more than 200 clients. Highlights of these trips included; Bodies Exhibition NYC, Circle Line Cruise, 26 Miles to Yellowstone-Two River Theatre, Fright Fest at Great Adventure, The Color Purple-NJPAC and Nets Basketball at the Izod Center.
