• Dear RBR Families,

During the summer months, air samples are tested to monitor for the presence of mold in the building.  In a recent air sampling, elevated levels of mold were found in two classrooms in the tech/engineering area (rooms 230-239).  In addition, the maintenance staff found surface mold on furniture in a few classrooms and offices on August 31.  Based on these findings, a professional mold remediation contractor cleaned the impacted areas, including the HVAC ductwork.

The areas were retested on Tuesday, September 4.  The district’s environmental consultant, Environmental Connections, reviewed the results and reported that the building is safe to occupy and no elevated levels of mold were found.  The health and well being of our students and staff is our highest priority and we will continue to monitor building conditions.

    Sincerely,

  • Dear Families and Students,

During the summer months, air samples are tested to monitor for the presence of mold in the building.  In the most recent air sampling, elevated levels of mold were found in two classrooms in the tech/engineering area (rooms 230-239).  As of now, no surface mold was found.

Working with a professional environmental engineering firm, we have initiated the following steps to address the issue:

    ·         The HVAC ducts in the impacted areas will be cleaned.
    ·         The area will be retested to ensure that elevated mold levels are not present.
    ·         The impacted classrooms will be cleaned by a professional mold cleaning contractor.

We are working to rectify this issue as quickly as possible and ensure a safe and clean environment for all staff and students.  However, it is likely that this area will remain closed for the start of school next week.

District staff will continue to monitor conditions in the impacted areas and we will be able to provide additional details next week.

Please feel free to contact me if there are any questions or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Louis B. Moore
