Impact on Transcript and School Policies

Academic Enrichment Learning Programs

• An option to pursue an area of interest beyond the coursework that  RBR offers.  Students may enroll in classes approved by department supervisors in courses not offered at the high school. 

• Students may enroll in a maximum of one class per term (summer, fall, and spring). 

• All fees for credits , books, etc. and any necessary transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the student and his/her/their family. 

• Classes may be on the high school, trade school, or AP level.  

• Classes may be online or in-person.

• Class title and grade will appear on the transcript.

• No credit will be earned in the class, nor will the class count towards graduation requirements.

• Class grade will not be factored into GPA.

Academic Enrichment Learning Programs

(Math Acceleration)

• Students who wish to pursue academic studies to advance in our math sequence are permitted to enroll in in-person or online classes.  

• In order to do so, students must complete the application below and be granted approval prior to enrolling in the course.  

• All fees for credits , books, etc. and any necessary transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the student and his/her/their family. 

• Classes may be online or in-person.

• Once the course is approved and the class is completed, students will be required to take and pass the RBR final exam with a minimum score of 65 before being approved for advancement.  

• Once approved, the course name and grade will be added to the high school transcript.An option to accelerate in the progression of mathematics courses..  Students may enroll in classes approved by the department supervisor.

College-Level Learning Experiences

Grade 12

• Students may enroll in college, technical or business courses for both college and high school credit in courses not offered at the high school.

• Students may enroll in a maximum of one class per term (summer, fall, and spring). 

• All fees for college credits , books, etc. and any necessary transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the student and his/her family. 

• Classes may be online or in-person.

• Class title and grade will appear on the transcript.

• Credits may be awarded by the Option Two Committee based on course description and course requirements.

• Class grade will not be factored into GPA.

Community Action/Volunteer Work

Grades 11-12

(due by first Friday in May prior to the requested school year)

• Students may volunteer (without any monetary compensation).

• Juniors may participate in the Spring; Seniors may participate in the Fall.

• Students approved into this program may  opt for an open block during their approved semester but must enroll in an elective for the other semester.  

• For every 27.5 hours of service, students will earn one credit. 

• A maximum of 5 credits will be applied to graduation requirements (2.5 during junior year and 2.5 during senior year)

Work-Based Learning Experience

Grades 11-12

• Students who learn career skills at their place of employment can apply to receive credit for their work experience. To be eligible, the student must be on track for meeting graduation requirements. Students and his/her/their employer (or a Community Liaison) are required to complete paperwork in order to document satisfactory employment skills.  In the event the student changes jobs, the student must notify the counselor immediately and secure a new job.

• Students will earn a Pass or Fail upon completion of the course and credits towards graduation.

• Class grade will not be factored into GPA.

• Students must complete a log to document activity.

Independent Learning Opportunity for Physical Education 

The Option Two Program allows seniors to earn Physical Education credits for individual marking periods through participation in approved RBR  athletic activities or by completing CPR/First Aid certification. During their assigned Physical Education period, students will be scheduled into a study hall

Marking Period Credit Breakdown:

• MP1 (Fall Sports): Credits are earned through participation in RBR fall sports programs
• MP2 (Winter Sports): Credits are earned through participation in RBR winter sports programs
• MP3 (CPR Training): Credits are earned through completing certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED 
• MP4 (Spring Sports): Credits are earned through participation in RBR spring sports programs

Physical Education Option Two Eligibility and Guidelines - Marking Periods 1, 2, & 4:

1. Eligibility:
   • Exclusively available to senior athletes who participate in RBR activities.
   • RBR Activities include: RBR Varsity athletic programs sanctioned by the NJ State Interstate Athletic Association (NJSIAA), Cheerleading Team, Dance Team, and Marching Band.
   • Seniors who already have a study hall in their schedule are not eligible.

Senior Health/CPR Option Two Eligibility and Guidelines - Marking Period 3:

1. Eligibility:
   • Exclusively available to seniors who meet the following:
     1. Students must be certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED.
     2. Certification must include an in-person skills component. It cannot be 100% online.
   • Seniors who already have a study hall in their schedule are not eligible.
2. Apply:
   • Proof of certification must be submitted to your Health 12 teacher by December 23, 2025, for approval

• Students will earn a Pass or Fail and credits toward graduation upon completion of Phys-Ed (3.75 credit).
• Students will earn a Pass or Fail and credits toward graduation upon completion of Health (1.25 credits)

Independent Learning Opportunity for Financial Literacy

• Students who participate in the online course for Financial Literacy will be required to connect with Ms. D.Amico to meet deadlines of the course.  Students will be required to work independently to meet the requirements of the course.

• Students will earn a Pass or Fail and credits towards graduation upon completion of the course.

• Class grade will not be factored into GPA.

• Student must complete a log to document activity

World Language Alternative Pathway

• ELL students are permitted to earn credit in World Language by proficiency in their native language through the STAMP test.

• Students will earn a Pass or Fail and credits towards graduation upon completion of the course.

• Class grade will not be factored into GPA.

Inspire Academy

• Inspire Academy is a credit recovery program for students struggling to reach graduation requirements in the traditional classroom.

•  Inspire Academy utilizes a blended learning  model combining online curriculum and face-to-face activities and instruction. 

• Students are identified to complete an application process through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

• This program is self-paced, and awards credit based upon competency rather than seat hours.

• Students may participate in Inspire Academy in one course or all of their content areas. 

• Length of school day may be amended to meet student needs and approved curriculum. 

Alliance for Success

• Alliance for Success program (ASP) will educate select rising Juniors and Seniors through a 2 year career and college readiness program. 

• Students who complete the program will gain knowledge  and reinforcement of skills required for post secondary employment or education. 

• Students participate in meetings one time per week after school at Lunch Break

• Curriculum includes:

  • Career Readiness

  • College Readiness

  • Life Readiness and SEL support

  • Financial Literacy

• Each student is assigned a mentor who will assist students in the  career and college process

• Students who complete the 2 year program will receive 5 credits towards graduation.
