High in Technology Student Association State Competition
Eight Red Bank Regional (RBR) students
competed in this year’s Technology Student Association (TSA) state conference
contests, which were held on May 5 at the College of New Jersey. Over 1400 students competed in over 60
technology-based events. RBR senior Elisa Orsini (Shrewsbury) placed second in
Flight Endurance and junior Jose Ramirez (Red Bank) placed third in
Transportation modeling. The other
students who represented RBR were Vincent Novellino (Millstone), Erick Camerino
(Red Bank), Ricky Wild (Belmar), Javier Molina (Deal), Edwin Castillo (Red
Bank), and not pictured, Jorge Benavides (Red Bank).
All students are members of RBR’s TSA Club which is advised
by RBR Pre-Engineering teacher Kathryn Hawley.
comments, “Every year the TSA becomes more competitive and the students need to
start earlier in the school year to develop their skills in a particular event
in which they feel they have the best opportunity to excel. We are all looking
forward to the 2015-2016 competitions.”
The TSA is the oldest student organization dedicated exclusively
to students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
courses. Its membership includes over 200,000 middle school and over 2,000 high
