• The Science Department at Red Bank Regional High School provides students with a broad range of courses to design their own comprehensive course of study of the sciences. Incoming freshmen are introduced to high school science by taking either Exploratory Science or Biology. Exploratory Science works to develop a student's analytical skills through the study of Chemistry and Biology. Biology is a lab course that provides a comprehensive understanding of the structures and functions of living things. Our Biology course provides students with the conceptual framework, investigative skills, and analytical thinking skills necessary for college courses, as well as preparation for subsequent courses in science. Our Chemistry and Honors Chemistry courses strive to develop a deep understanding of the nature of matter through many traditional topics and their applications, as well as current events and discoveries. Students may then take Physics, which introduces many traditional concepts such as motion, heat, light, kinetic theory, wave motion, gravitation, electromagnetism, and optics. Motivated juniors and seniors have a wide variety of accelerated and elective science courses available to them. These include: AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics, as well as IB Environmental Systems and Society. We offer concurrent enrollment in Syracuse University’s Forensic Science course, for which a student may earn four college credits. In addition we offer our students courses in Anatomy and Physiology, a dual enrollment course with Farleigh Dickinson University, Marine Science, and Environmental Science. It is our hope that the science program at Red Bank Regional High School will help our students develop a greater understanding of the vast world of science as well as a love of education in their pursuit to becoming life long learners.
