Welcome to the School Counseling Department
at Red Bank Regional High School DistrictWelcome to the School Counseling Department at Red Bank Regional High School
The School Counseling Department plays a vital role in supporting students’ academic, personal, and career growth. Through individual and group counseling, we equip students with the tools to reflect on their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.
What We Do
- Academic Planning: Counselors guide course selection, scheduling, and provide resources to address academic challenges while collaborating with the attendance office to support consistent learning.
- Career Readiness: We assist with college admissions, scholarships, and career exploration, helping students develop personalized plans for their futures.
- Personalized Support: Our open-door policy allows students to seek guidance on academic, social-emotional, and career concerns at any time.
Collaboration & Communication
Students are paired with the same counselor throughout high school, fostering a consistent and supportive relationship. Counselors schedule conferences regularly but we encourage students and parents to reach out anytime for assistance.
Change of Counselor Policy
All incoming freshmen are assigned to a house counselor (Maroon, White, or Gray) for Grades 9-12. Additionally, counselors are assigned to specific academies and IB cohorts.
Requests for a specific counselor will not be honored unless the student has an older sibling who worked with a different counselor. Such requests must be made at the time of enrollment and no later than August 1st. To submit a request, the parent or guardian should email the Director of School Counseling.
Other requests for counselor changes, outside the criteria mentioned above, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the administration. These requests will only be considered if there are circumstances that justify a possible change. Requests must be submitted before the start of the student’s sophomore year.
